Hole Punch Toys Butnik – Sex Toy Review
With all of the recent talk of Russian probes and collusion the Hole Punch Butnik really seems quite apropos. With a playful nod to Sputnik, the first satellite launched into Earth’s orbit by the Soviet Union, this Soviet-themed toy is an out of this world experience (and is ready to be launched right up your butt). Made up of one part cock ring and one part butt plug, the Butnik is 100% pure genius (and honestly I expect nothing less from Hole Punch Toys)!
When the Smitten Kitten gave me my first sneak peek of the Hole Punch Butnik I was a little confused, it looked like a mini torpedo. I wasn’t sure if it was mean to be a itty-bitty dildo or something else (was it even a sex toy at all?!). I rolled it around in my hands trying to work this thing out… then it dawned on me, I could remove the ring from the toy! Once I slid the silicone ring from the body of the toy it became painfully obvious what I was holding in my hands. Design-wise, the Butnik is really pretty clever. Much like a space bound rocket, the Butnik separates into two equally awesome toys that can either be used together or independently. Play with the Butnik solo or break it apart and share with a friend (like a Kit-Kat)! So futuristic, look at Hole Punch Toys living in 3018 while we are all stuck here in 2018.
Since I don’t have a penis of my very own (bummer) I enlisted the help of my Stunt Cock. We broke the Butnik apart and each took a piece (sharing is caring), he tested the cock ring while I gave the butt plug a whirl. We then synchronized our watches like good spies and each took one half of the Butnik to an undisclosed secure area to test and agreed to rendezvous at exactly 2100 hours. Okay, none of that is true… but we did diddle ourselves while watching The Americans, so it’s close enough.
So first let’s talk butt plug. I really, really like this plug. Like, really a lot. The design of the plug is about what you would imagine from a plug, nothing super innovative as far as butt plug design (it doesn’t have wi-fi or contain a night vision spy camera), but it is executed fabulously. It features a long, tapered body which is very comfortable to insert and felt perfectly snug and at home in my butt. The Butnik measures at something like 4 1/2 inches in total length with 3 3/4 inches of that being insertable. Circumference wise it is about 5 inches around (1.5 inches in diameter) at its widest point, which makes it just a hair smaller than my absolute favorite silicone plug – the Tantus Ryder. I think it would be a comfortable size for beginners and anal enthusiasts alike, its smooth silicone has almost no drag to it which really makes insertion a breeze. The first thing I look for with a butt plug is how comfortable is the base (as well as being sized appropriately for safe anal play) … there is nothing worse then when a plugs base makes it either impossible to sit comfortably or manages to rub and pinch my butt cheeks in a weird way while I walk (the Butnik’s cork-like base really nestles in between my cheeks in a totally noninvasive way). I am happy to report that the Butnik passed the first of the butt plug trials… suuuuuuper comfortable to wear!
While using the Butnik I experienced a very pleasant feeling of moderate fullness. It is a very gentle plug experience in my opinion (the last plug I played with was the Njoy Pure Plug 2.0… so I suppose after using that for a couple hours the other day anything is bound to feel ‘gentle’…). Since the base of the Butnik is so unobtrusive, it was also a great plug for use during sex! With some plugs, the base is either too large or shaped in such a way that it gets in the way when a penis (or sex toy) is inserted, but the Butnik was the perfect sex companion. Also, it stayed in place during sex and during orgasm… believe it or not I have had an experience with some plugs where they end up shooting out of my butt like a rocket when I orgasm… but the Butnik stayed in orbit (ha ha… the space puns will not get old).
So, while the plug half of this Soviet duo is made from a medium firm silicone the cock ring portion is comprised of a delightfully squishy soft silicone. We have owned an impressive number of cock rings, some of them have been complete shit while others are so amazing I consider giving them to all the penis owners in my life… “oh, I see you have a dick, here is a gift bag containing all my favorite cock rings, please enjoy…” The Butnik cock ring is somewhere in the middle. It isn’t the most amazing ring we have owned, but it is far from the worst. Our biggest issue with the ring was that it was a little bit on the small size and there isn’t a whole lot of stretch to it. Normally, my Stunt Cock likes a cock ring that he can stretch over both his shaft and balls, the Butnick ring doesn’t even come close to being able to do that, it is a shaft only ring. This is only mildly disappointing, because it still did a great job at turning my Stunt Cock’s cock into a purple throbbing beast! Because there isn’t a whole lot of stretch to the cock ring whether or not it works for others will greatly depend on the individual users penis girth… it’s not quite a one size fits all deal (if you are looking for a soft and stretchy cock ring check out the Tantus Super Soft C-Ring…. we love that one).
Overall though, the Hole Punch Butnik is a ton of fun! The whole concept is just so clever… even if all you want is a sweet butt plug, the Butnik is still a great choice… just think of the cock ring as your plugs pants! Or use the cock ring as a way to hold all of your pencils together! What a great deal! Buy a butt plug, get a handy silicone whatsit to do with as you please… the only limit is your imagination! Or… you can just use it as intended… as a cock ring… if you are into that.
The plug half of the Soviet duo is made from a medium-firm silicone while the cock ring is made from a delightfully squishy soft silicone. There is a seam that runs the length of the plug, but in use it was not at all noticeable and it’s really just a minor visual thing and from what I’ve been noticing lately seems to be nature of hand poured toys (correct me if I’m wrong, I am not a dildo crafter extraordinaire, merely a humble vagina stuffer). Overall though, the Butnik is a quality crafted toy and I am now very eager to add more Hole Punch toys to my collection (I am also a big fan of the ‘buy local’ movement… and Hole Punch is made local to me… so it’s my civic duty to purchase more of these toys…).
Currently, the Butnik comes in three rad color combinations. You can snag a sweet plug in blue and orange (as pictured in this review), green and blue, or pink and black. All are excellent choices… I’m especially fond of the orange and blue… you really don’t see enough sex toys using the color orange, it’s cool.
Recommendation? I think you know the answer to this one already. Of course I think you should buy it, it is a nifty toy from a nifty maker! The butt plug is a quality peace, easy to insert, comfortable to wear and while the cock ring was not our favorite, it is still well crafted and will be some penis’ glass slipper. Also, the Butnik is worth the purchase just for the treasure trove of not only space themed jokes, but Russian ones as well, you owe it to yourself to own the Hole Punch Butnik.
Ready to buy the Butnik (in Russia, Butnik buys you)? You can do so either from Hole Punch Toys directly or from the sweet folks at Shevibe!
The Hole Punch Butnik was provided to me free of charge by Hole Punch Toys in exchange for my honest review.
